Mepa

We developed a reporting tool for maritime and port operations suitable for a Vaadin and Vue application, with Mepa as our client. The purpose of this application was to assess the well-being of seafarers and ensure that they had all the food and other daily necessities in order on board the ship. The tool enables real-time monitoring and reporting, improving the crew's well-being and safety.

My role

I was the lead designer, and our team consisted of four members. I was responsible for developing the user interface and user experience in close collaboration with the other team members, ensuring that the design met the project's requirements and the client's needs. Collaboration and teamwork were key factors in the success of the project.

Data collection from Google Forms

This application was built based on data from the previous Google Forms, which allowed us to leverage the information and feedback that had been collected earlier. By analyzing the old data, we were able to understand user needs and develop features that enhance the user experience. This approach ensured that the new application is relevant and meets user expectations while providing more effective tools for maritime and port reporting.

Data was collected from Google Forms and integrated into the Vaadin user interface, allowing officials to manage ship movements to the port more easily. This integration facilitated smoother information flow and ensured that officials received up-to-date and accurate information about the arrival and departure of vessels. Through the user interface, they can quickly and efficiently track ship movements, improving the operational efficiency of the port and optimizing resource use.

The application was also developed as a Vue-based mobile app, making it easier for seafarers to use. The mobile version allows seafarers to input information about the personal items they need on board the ship. This process is much more convenient, as seafarers can access the app directly from their smartphones while on the go. The mobile app enhances usability and ensures that the needs of seafarers are better addressed.
